In this gripping thriller based on the novels by Finnish author Matti Rönkä, Viktor Kärppä is a former KGB agent who settles in Finland, the country of his ancestors. He tries to make a living as a private investigator and business facilitator for Russian migrants, but finds himself entangled with organized crime. He may look like a killer, but he isn't one.

Helsinki has seen a number of deaths due to a new shipment of "artificial Heroin" being introduced from Russia. The "Russsian Mafia" in St. Petersburg suspects Victor ("Viki") and his ne'er do well lazy brother, Aleksei, are responsible for the fake/fatal heroin, and threaten both brothers, as well as Viki's girlfriend, Marja.

Victor needs to get to Russia, his homeland, to rescue his girlfriend, Marja. But he is supremely betrayed when his (pregnant) girlfriend is kidnapped by a supposed friend.
