1. While you're ahead

On April 3, 2024, a clearly affected Mikkel Hansen announces his retirement. Ahead lies the Olympics in Paris, a possible perfect end to an exceptional career. But the road to it is uncertain after years of injuries, blood clots and stress. Along with the physical struggle to reach the Olympics, Mikkel must come to terms with his decision to retire. The joy of handball is still there, but priorities have changed.

2. The other side of the medal

Mikkel and Aalborg Handball lose the Champions League final, but the Olympic dream lives on. After the selection, Mikkel is closer than ever to his dream of retiring at the top. At the same time, the career stop gives him an opportunity to look back on the sky-high personal costs of being the world's best. Denmark wins Olympic gold, and with the victory Mikkel secures the best start to his new life, where the role of father, husband, brother and friend now finally comes first.
