Joanna Lumley embarks on a journey from Italy to Kyrgyzstan and traces the footsteps of historical figures along the ancient Silk Road.

1. Venice, Albania and Turkey

Joanna Lumley begins her epic Silk Road adventure in Venice seeing how the travels of Venetian hero Marco Polo and Silk Road traders influenced the growth of the area.

2. Georgia and Azerbaijan

Joanna follows the Silk Road across Georgia and Azerbaijan, experiencing the contrasting identities of these two post-Soviet countries.

3. Iran

Joanna continues her adventure following the ancient Silk Road across the Islamic Republic of Iran, home to one of the oldest civilizations on earth.

4. Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan

Joanna Lumley travels across the stunning Central Asian states of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, visiting a Silk Road citadel and attending a high-society wedding.
