The 1980s. Jan Laureys wants to enjoy life but is forced by his father to become a gendarme. He joins the CDI, a new agency that will combat drug trafficking using American methods.

Jan is enjoying his new, fast-paced life. There are casualties, but for now, he remains loyal to his colleagues Franky and Vic. He remains deaf to the sound advice of his family and his ex-girlfriend Cathy, an investigative journalist.

Jan reconnects with his estranged mother. Meanwhile, seeking quick success, his team steals the investigation from a rival police department. Cathy begins an investigation into the activities of Jan and his colleagues.

Franky and Vic are becoming increasingly violent, the major has been lying to him for years, and Cathy threatens to expose everything. Jan realizes he has to leave before everything collapses, but that proves harder than expected.

Jan wants to make one last move and then leave. But then he has to convince Cathy to wait a little longer before publishing her story. Just then, he runs into an opponent he'd briefly lost sight of...

Jan is forced to gather information against Vic and Franky. While stringing along his clients, he tries to find a way to escape. However, his colleagues realize he's betraying them.

Jan and Cathy are held hostage by Franky and Vic, who want to erase all traces of their criminal activities. Jan plays his last trump card in a last-ditch effort to save Cathy and himself. He receives help from an unexpected source.
