The newly-wed couple were hijacked at gunpoint during a taxi journey back to their hotel from dinner and the next morning the 28-year-old bride was found dead, having been shot. The murder of Anni quickly became one of the world’s most talked-about headlines. For years, the truth about who was responsible for her death remained unclear, with the public constantly torn between the Dewani family, whose representatives maintained their son Shrien’s innocence, and Anni’s family, desperate to find out what happened that night and why Anni had to die.

1. The Murder

Anni Dewani and her husband are on their honeymoon in Cape Town when their taxi gets hijacked. The next day Anni’s body is discovered, and a murder investigation begins.

2. The Mastermind

Police are searching for Tongo, the taxi driver, who has now been named as a suspect. Meanwhile, Anni’s family start to feel some of Shrien’s behaviour is unusual.

3. The Motive

A phone call reveals information that may point to a motive for arranging Anni’s murder. Shrien appoints a stellar defence team who begin dismantling the police case.

4. The Trial

Having been extradited, Shrien is flown to South Africa to stand trial for murder. Anni’s family are there for every moment, hoping to finally get answers.
