Australian production "Scurry" offers up a claustrophobic, survivalist horror.
Confined underground spaces, tight tunnels, the stuff of nightmares for many of us, are as much a core aspect of what makes this film uncomfortable and nerve wracking, as the horrific over sized bugs, that pursue the protagonists. You could say this is a giant ant farm where people have been dropped in and must now escape.
Its not a bad premise for a horror film but physical limitations also impose a further limit on what this film can creatively achieve. Unsurprisingly, it can feel a little repetitive, at times.
Acting from the cast is reasonable and special effects are well done.
In summary, 'Scurry" is a mostly entertaining, if somewhat limited, claustrophobic horror watch. Worth a look.
