There's a back alley everybody calls the "Alley of Ghosts". Gacharico the Ghost lives there, but it's a secret that only little Miku, who's family runs the nearby candy shop, knows. While the contents of the shop's capsule machines appear to be ordinary toys, inside live a large number of ghosts, each with their own personality and ability. Today, Miku's grandmother has lost her dentures, and it's up to Miku to get them back with the help of Gacharico and the other ghosts.

Kabo is a high school student with a stutter who struggles to express his feelings. He finds himself drawn to his classmate Wanda, who pursues dance without worrying about how others see her. Seeking a form of freestyle expression, Kabo takes on the unfamiliar world of dance.

Humans that have been physically altered and turned into dangerous weapons are known as the Extended. Juuzou Inui awakens as one of these weapons — with amnesia. But his job as an agent investigating the Extended leads to a mysterious child with Extended ties showing up at his office. Now Inui must keep the child away from street gangs and the megacorporation Berühren, and it won't be easy.

The anime's story centers on a cat named Maru, adopted by a girl named Anna from a shelter in Matsuyama city. Loved and well fed by the family, Maru gets rounder and fatter every day, spending most of his day sitting by the window and looking at the garden outside. When the family gets a new cat named Cerisier and begins doting on it, Maru gets jealous. In a fight with Cerisier, Maru is hurt by the family's words to him, and follows the advice of another cat to leave and see the world.
